Best LED Bulb for Load Shedding and Low Voltage in Pakistan

In Pakistan an LED bulb has a hard life. Power goes and comes back several times a day during load shedding, voltage can drop to 160-180V in the evening and jump above 250V at night, and in summer rooms stay at 40-45°C. A bulb that works well in Europe can fail in a few months here. This guide explains what actually makes an LED bulb last in Pakistani conditions, so shopkeepers, electricians and home owners can choose better.

1. Wide input voltage range

Check the voltage printed on the bulb or box. A bulb marked only "220V" may flicker or dim when voltage drops. Look for a wide range such as AC 100-265V or AC 160-265V, so the light stays steady during low voltage and survives high voltage at night.

2. Protection against power-return surges

When electricity comes back after load shedding there is a short voltage spike. Over hundreds of power cuts a year, these spikes damage the driver inside the bulb. Better bulbs have a fuse resistor and a surge protection component (MOV) at the input. Ask your supplier whether the driver has surge protection.

3. Heat sink and body material

Heat is the main enemy of LEDs and of the capacitor inside the driver. Bulbs with an aluminium heat sink (aluminium inside a plastic cover, or full aluminium for high wattages) run cooler and last longer than all-plastic bulbs. For 30W, 40W and 60W bulbs, heat dissipation is especially important.

4. Real wattage and lumens, not overdriven LEDs

Some very cheap bulbs push the LED chips too hard to look extra bright on day one. They get hot and develop black spots within months. A good bulb gives honest brightness for its wattage, for example around 1,200-1,300 lumens for a 12-13W bulb, and stays bright over time.
